LOST 30th Anniversary Mixer is Friday - Not too late to RSVP!

We are all geared up for a boot-scootin' good time tomorrow night at the Lake Olympia Clubhouse right next door to the pool. Find a sitter and come out to mix and mingle with other Lake Olympia parents from 7-11pm. Tickets are still available! Click here to RSVP

Raffle Basket Ticket Sales - Last Chance Friday!

Your swim fees do not cover the cost of running the swim team. In addition to normal operating costs and coach salaries we are in need of new tents. We have other items on our wish list such as an aerator to cool the pool water and we need to set aside some money for new lane ropes as they need to be replaced periodically. If you can’t attend the mixer consider buying raffle tickets. Don't miss out on a chance to win one of our fabulous raffle baskets! A detailed list of contents of each basket is attached. Tickets are 1 for $5 and 5 for $20 and can be purchased at the pool or by clicking here.

How Can the Weather Affect a Meet?

We are all keeping a close eye on the weather situation for Monday night. As we have said before, "we swim in the rain" but thunder does cause us to pause. It is very important that every adult on the team is subscribed to our text alert system, as this is how we will communicate any delays or updates. Information on how to sign up is at the bottom of this message.

As of today, we plan to move forward with Monday's meet as scheduled. Unless you receive a team text with alternate info, plan to show up even if it's raining! We will keep our fingers crossed that we are able to complete the meet, or at least get through the backstroke event which would allow us to record the meet as "complete" as far as the league is concerned. In the event that we are not able to complete the meet on Monday, the planned make up date is Saturday, June 23rd with an 8:00 am start. Swimmers would need to arrive by 6:30 am for 7:00 am warm ups. The goal is to finish by noon. Please pencil in this make up date on your calendar.

Volunteer Needs at Meets - Home meet needs MORE volunteers!

Our team is 100% volunteer run. We need everyone to sign up for a job at each meet to make our meets run smoothly. The jobs aren’t hard – sign up now for meets throughout the season! Click here to volunteer for Monday's home meet. Thank you for doing your part! We couldn't do it without you.

Interested in being an age group tent parent? If you've been approached to be a tent parent or are interested in helping in that way, please email our Team Parent Coordinators Lithy Thomas [email protected] and Nichole Ray [email protected]and they will guide you through the process. Please let them know your swimmer's name and age group in your email.

Missing a Meet? TELL US NOW!

Click here to let us know if your swimmer will NOT attend Monday's meet. We use our team website to keep track of who is NOT able to attend a meet. It is very important to let us know as soon as possible if your swimmer(s) will be unable to attend one of the meets. There is a lot of behind the scenes work that goes into preparing the heat sheets that tell the tent parents where every swimmer needs to be at any given moment during a meet. We understand that last minute illnesses may happen, but for any planned absences it helps us to know as soon as possible that your swimmer will not be in attendance.

The online meet absence system will close on Saturday night. For last-minute absence notifications between Saturday night and the meet, please text our team parent coordinators Lithy Thomas 914-420-3910 and Nichole Ray 281-960-6144.

Volunteer Sign Up - Fun Fridays, Spirit Store Thursdays

We use our team website to organize our volunteer roles. On Fridays we make sno cones for the swimmers and on the Fridays after meets we attach stars to swimmer tshirts to show meet attendance and personal time improvements over the course of the season. Our Spirit Store will be available every Thursday throughout the season. Volunteers are needed to fill all these roles, and on the job training is provided!

Click here to learn how to volunteer. Thank you for doing your part! We couldn't do it without you.

Third Meet Information

Our meet on Monday is at home! Swimmers should arrive by 3:30 pm to be marked and ready for warm-ups to begin promptly at 4:00 pm. The meet will start at 5:00. Please pay attention to the posted no parking signs. Parking info can be found here.  Boy Scout Troop 103 will be providing hot food concessions at our home meets and they look forward to selling us some yummy burgers, sausage on a stick, nachos, pasta, popcorn and more!

Keeping Swimmers Safe Under the Tents

We have a designated number of job openings for tent parents at these meets. Space is limited and we need to make sure the swimmers have shelter from the sun and stay where we can find them for their event. Please help us make sure that only the adults that are signed up as tent parents for the meet and have had their criminal background checks are under the tents. Also make sure your swimmers are out of the sun as much as possible, this means they may need to be moved as the sun moves and that coolers and wagons be stationed on the outer perimeter of the tent (coolers and wagons don’t get sunburned)

Tips:

-Do not sunscreen swimmers prior to marking their arms. The sharpie will come off and it makes it hard to verify they are swimming the right event.

-Kids need to stay in the tent area unless checked out by a parent or going to the bathroom with a buddy.

Urban Air Team Social is June 19th from 5:30-8:00

Join the team and coaches and fly at Urban Air! Enjoy discounted admission of $12 per person that includes Urban Air socks if needed, pizza and water for each RSVP. If you've got socks from previous trips, please bring them to reduce the cost to the team. RSVP here.

Eat with the Coaches at Cane's - June 21st at 4:00 pm

We celebrate our coaches' birthdays with a team social at Cane's in front of Lowe's in Missouri City. Come one out and eat dinner with the team and coaching staff! Cane's is a platinum sponsor of our team, so let's show them some Lake O love!
