Proposed Changes to By Laws and Description of Board Positions

Dear Members,

As you are all aware, most of the current Execute Board membership is term limited, resulting in vacancies that need to be filled. As is customary, we will conduct team business at the conclusion of the awards ceremony at tomorrow's team party. After the swimmers are excused to the pool area, nominations will be held for prospective Executive Board members followed by a vote. Each member family is allowed two(2) votes, and new Executive Board members are voted in by a simple majority. The President-Elect may then decide to begin soliciting and appointing Directors/Committee Chair persons to fill the remaining vacancies. If you are interested in volunteering in one of these positions please communicate your interest to the new Executive Board.

The attached document is a copy of the existing By Laws with some proposed amendments. Items proposed to be excluded from the By Laws can be identified by a line drawn through the text, and proposed additions are in red text. Having served as President of the team for the last two(2) terms, it is my belief the proposed changes are necessary in order to allow any future Executive Boards to function as efficiently and seamlessly as possible. It is also necessary to create more member involvement on the Board, by spreading the responsibilities to a larger number of volunteers. Please carefully read the attachment, and come to the team party armed with any questions you may have for either the outgoing or incoming Executive Board members.

Finally, I know I can speak on behalf of the outgoing Executive Board members as I express our privilege and pleasure having served you, the membership (Parents and swimmers), these past two years or more. We look forward to helping the incoming Executive Board take our successes to greater heights, and also to volunteering with you on deck.

Kirk Villafana

President, Lake Olympia Tiger Sharks
